After enduring more than their fare share of flood damage earlier in the year, local Forest Hill Primary School has had a shift in luck by winning a $5,000 MOOV Community Grant.
Now in its third consecutive year, the MOOV Community Grant is designed to invest in grass-root community initiatives by helping schools realise essential projects or programmes. An astounding 597 applications were received from schools Australia-wide, making Forest Hill Primary School all the more overwhelmed by their success.
The money has been used to purchase ten brand new desktop computers, which will be housed in the library – itself having been rebuilt after flood damage left it entirely gutted from the waist down. The desktops will mean weekly computer classes can be conducted on premium new equipment, with the added bonus of children having increased computer access through individual scheduling during the week. The school’s students are already computer proficient but show an insatiable appetite to further their IT knowledge and capabilities, something the school is now capable of encouraging thanks to the new desktops.
MOOV Brand Manager Melissa Giuliani said Forest Hill Primary School was a deserved winner of a $5,000 Grant.
“This vision merits reward; young children stand to benefit by having more frequent access to high quality desktops. It is also the sort of project that can be realistically achieved with $5,000; helping to realise this story from start to end is very important to MOOV,” said Mrs Giuliani.
